October 6 | Week 40 Gospel Conversation Opportunity
GOSPEL CONVERSATION OPPORTUNITY
Did you know that there was almost a 400-year gap between the events of the Old Testament and the events of the New Testament? The Jewish people waited in silence a long time for Jesus to come.
Read Exodus 1:1-9. Remember the story of the Israelites and the time they were in Egypt. Scholars would say the generations listed in these verses would represent just over 400 years.
At the end of the 400 years when the Israelites were in Egypt as slaves, God sent Moses to help deliver them and bring them to freedom.
At the end of the 400 years between the Old Testament and the New Testament, God sent Jesus to be the ultimate deliverer and to break the silence!
The first four books of the New Testament are called the Gospels. Gospel means good news! All four Gospels walk through the life of Jesus and are filled with the good news that Jesus came to rescue us from our sin and bring us to freedom as well! Thank Him for that today!

- Bring your Bible! Your kids need to see that everything you are reading to them or learning about comes from an actual Bible!
- Each day starts with a reading prompt. Read the selection as a family. If your kids are readers, encourage them to read along with you.
- After you’ve read the passage, read the short devotional thought that goes along with each passage.
- Prayer and application are important any time we read God’s word! After each devotional, there is a challenge to help apply what your family has read that day.
- There is a reading for six days of the week. The last reading of the week is a Gospel Conversation Prompt to help you connect the reading from the week with God’s plan for salvation.
