February 19 | What’s Different?

Today’s Reading:

Read Leviticus 11:1; Leviticus 11:45

Let’s play a guessing game. From this list choose the one thing that is different than the others: yellow, orange, blue, one. Which one did you choose? Yellow, orange and blue are all colors, one is a number. One is the word that does not belong in that group.

As God laid out rules for the Israelites, His desire was for them to be different than the other nations around them. He wanted others to see that they lived differently. He also set rules and guidelines for the Israelities. When they followed these rules, it would show others that being obedient to God was important to them. God’s desire was for the Israelites to live a life that was “set apart” from others. The word we use to describe that is the word, “HOLY.”

Leviticus 11:45 says, “You must be Holy, because I am Holy.” God gave clear instructions to the Israelites to let them know what being holy looked like.

Application/Prayer:

As a family, have fun making up your own “What’s different” guessing game. Talk about the ways your family lives that might look different than the people around you. Take time to ask God to help your family live in a way that is set apart so that others will see His light shining through you.
