Steven Neal to Unveil Title of Liberty, Utah’s Largest Sculpture, at the Stadium of Fire

The artist Steven Neal would like to thank the readers of Meridian Magazine for their interest and generous contributions to the Monument of the Americas being built in Heber City, Utah and its key sculpture “The Title of Liberty “.

The monument features Moroni, raising the Title of Liberty, in memory of our God, our religion, and our freedom. He is standing atop the dragon of tyranny and surrounded by smaller figures representing George Washington and other soldiers who have fought for liberty.

For the past six months, hundreds of pieces of bronze that will compose the sculpture have been cast through the complex process of the lost wax method at Art City Foundry in Springville, Utah. They are now being assembled and welded together as twice life-size statues of Moroni, George Washington, a Confederate/Union soldier, World War II soldier, Desert Storm soldier and Columbia or Lady Liberty as seen on top of the capitol dome in Washington DC.

The finished statue will be so large (in fact the largest bronze statue in Utah) that it cannot be transported in one piece. It needs to be engineered and built in two pieces that can be placed one on top of the other to display until it reaches its final placement in Heber. The long-awaited unveiling of “The Title of Liberty” will be on the Fourth of July in front of the BYU stadium as part of, the Freedom Festival. The planned unveiling will be between 7 -7:15 PM as spectators are gathering into the Stadium of Fire. A fife and drum ensemble perform just before with a bagpipe salute afterwards.

The Friday before, June 28th, there is scheduled a benefit concert for the Monument of the Americas. Familiar favorites Alex Boyé, One Voice Children’s Choir, and Yahosh Bonner, will perform at the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo, Utah (see poster). Tickets are on sale starting at $ 25; call 801-852-7007 or use QR code. Come support Monument of the Americas and bring your friends to introduce them as well!
