May 4 | David’s Testimony
Today’s Reading:
Read Psalm 32
Have you ever had good news that you couldn’t wait to tell someone else? What was it? (Give a chance to share) Maybe a new brother or sister was going to be born? Or maybe you found out you were going to Disney World and you wanted everybody to know it! David felt this way about the fact that God had forgiven him. David wanted others to know what God had done for him.
David was grateful for God’s forgiveness. In Psalm 32:5, David says, “I acknowledged my sin to you and did not conceal my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord and you forgave the guilt of my sin!” David said that God surrounded him with “joyful shouts of deliverance.” David literally wanted to shout for joy to thank God for his forgiveness.
Application/Prayer:
Who can you tell the good news of God’s love? Ask God for an opportunity to shout for joy to others about all that He has done for you and about how much He loves you!
May Memory Verse:
“Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.”
- Bring your Bible! Your kids need to see that everything you are reading to them or learning about comes from an actual Bible!
- Each day starts with a reading prompt. Read the selection as a family. If your kids are readers, encourage them to read along with you.
- After you’ve read the passage, read the short devotional thought that goes along with each passage.
- Prayer and application are important any time we read God’s word! After each devotional, there is a challenge to help apply what your family has read that day.
- There is a reading for six days of the week. The last reading of the week is a Gospel Conversation Prompt to help you connect the reading from the week with God’s plan for salvation.
